The short version
This policy covers the Ballpark Command website at ballparkcommand.com and the Ballpark Command phone app (together, "Ballpark Command"). "We" means Ballpark Command. People use it in one of three ways, and what we hold depends on which one you are:
| If you are a… | We hold | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Tournament director | Your email address, an optional display name, and your password (stored only in a scrambled, one-way form — we cannot read it). The tournaments you create. | To sign you in and keep your events yours. |
| Someone requesting a free trial weekend | What you type into the request form: your name, your tournament or facility, the date you have in mind, your email address and any notes. | So we can contact you about the trial. |
| Coach, assistant or team manager | If the director enters or imports it: your name, email and phone number, your team's name and division, any scheduling note supplied at registration, whether the entry fee was marked paid, and a GameChanger team ID if one was linked. | So the director can run the event and reach you. |
| Coach or scorekeeper signed in with a code | A record that your phone is signed in for that team, and the scores and start times you submit. | To accept score reports only from the right team. |
| Fan or parent | Nothing that identifies you. If you turn on notifications, we store a notification address for your device (issued by Apple, Google or your browser maker) and the list of teams you follow. | To send you the notifications you asked for. |
Directors enter team names, divisions, fields, schedules and scores. When a director chooses to list a tournament in the app, that information — and only that — becomes visible to anyone. Coach and manager contact details, scheduling notes and payment status are never part of the public listing. A tournament is not listed until its director turns that on.
The phone app keeps a few things on your device, not on our servers: the teams you follow, which team you signed in as, and whether you dismissed the "install the app" hint. Clearing your browser or app data removes them.
We use one cookie. It keeps a director, coach or scorekeeper signed in for up to 30 days, and it is removed when you sign out. Fans who don't sign in get no cookie. We use no advertising or tracking cookies.
Like every website, our hosting provider records basic request information such as IP address, time and the page requested, for security and troubleshooting. We also briefly use IP addresses to limit repeated sign-in attempts.
Ballpark Command is a tool for adults who run, coach and follow youth sports tournaments. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Team names and scores of youth teams appear in the app, but no information about any individual child does. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email support@ballparkcommand.com and we will delete it.
We aim to respond within 30 days.
Connections to Ballpark Command are encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords are stored in a one-way scrambled form. Access to a tournament is limited to its director and to Ballpark Command staff, who may open a tournament to help its director set it up, fix a problem or answer a support question; each time staff open a tournament it is recorded. Access to a team's score reporting is limited to people holding that team's code. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your information we will tell you.
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. For significant changes we will also post a notice on the website.
